It has come to our attention that a number of students recently posted accounts of sexual misconduct on social media platforms. We are deeply concerned about the hurt and pain expressed by our students and we stand ready to provide support and resources. We acknowledge that there are many different ways people respond to and heal from trauma. We want students to feel empowered to use the different support service options available to them at GW.
The university is committed to fostering a safe environment free of harassment and discrimination. We take allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault seriously and have systems in place for reporting, investigating, providing services to students, and taking appropriate actions. Please know that the social media platforms being used are not affiliated with GW, so posting on them is not the same as connecting with available university resources. We want to remind our community of the university support and reporting resources available to anyone who has experienced any form of sexual misconduct. We welcome you to review resources outlined below.

Title IX Office Reporting
Allegations of sex-based harassment, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate partner violence, and stalking can be reported to our Title IX Office. Reporting to the Title IX Office is not the same as filing a police report or initiating a disciplinary resolution. Your report will give the Title IX Office staff the opportunity to provide you with information about available support services including referrals for counseling, no-contact orders, and academic accommodations. The Title IX Office can also provide information about Title IX policies and processes, and external resources including law enforcement. If appropriate, the Title IX Office can take steps to conduct a thorough investigation and protect your safety and the safety of the community. Individuals may also make anonymous reports to the Title IX Office. Depending on the amount of information available in the anonymous report, however, the university’s ability to respond with an investigation or resolution process may be limited.
